If our tag line rang true, you've definitely arrived. For despite the books, magazines, maxims, mottos or sayngs about art, you know - the ones you keep reading in hopes their sentiment will line up with yours, your artistic truth - the absolutely, undeniable, insuppressible need to express yourself (however that may be) is a gift, a gift that should be appreciated. Whose hands you place your gift, your children's gifts (how in essence, you show appreciation for your/their God given, albeit other-worldly talent), well, that could be a loss - translation: fake experts - they're easy to spot - big box store clerks - the ones that run the registers, unpack boxes, and homogenize instruction; here's a pre-packaged kit. Now follow the instructions! Stick to a privately owned shop, (artistic productions or other), run by an artist/s/artisan/s whose thoughts, motives, and history concur with yours - there's something aesthetically adverse, a look and feel to those darn arts and crafts chains that detract from what should otherwise be, a tremendously fulfilling experience. The strength of your art, your children's art - how you/they go about representing it and yourself/themselves, is key to its' appreciation. Stray from natural, time-tested processes, i.e. who you entrust your ideas/their ideas to, where you purchase supplies and your art's less cohesive - less impacting. Art, for both creator and audience should be an imaginative experience, not a confused decoupling for having been at the wrong (store) at the wrong time, for having been given disinterested advice and therefore, for having purchased wrong or inferior product.
Hello, my name is Albert E Dumont, proprietor, creative director, and teaching artist here at artistic productions/the Dumont Estate. Yes, I am that discerning about art, and you should be too, if fact, your owe it to yourself, to your legacy as an artist/artisan. That said, my wife Kimberly (our lovely VP and resident paper artist - see "Kim's Corner") and I, bid you a sincere, heartfelt WELCOME! And a fond, appreciative WELCOME BACK! to our repeat clients for your continued patronage and good will. We couldn't have stood the test of time without you - all of you, couldn't have realized our own artistic truths, big parts of which are enabling you to realize yours.
We also thank you in advance for your indulgence as artistic productions continues to evolve, not reinvent - anyone can do that; in a day and age when so many businesses have lost their way (or never really had one to begin with), artistic productions, with its' superior, near twenty-five year track record continues to encite the actuality of artistic existences with real visual art materials for drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture - the list goes on, and traditional craft goods: clay, fiber, glass, lacquer, metal and wood, and of course, all favorites you've come to know and love - kits/sets in all media, kid's gear, rubber stamps and related, scrapbooking materials, cake decorating ware - even the "comfort crafts" of yesteryear: needle arts, dollmaking, candle and soapmaking, basketry, leatherwork, if its' out there we've got it, and if we don't, we'll get it! Needless to say, the last thing we stock is aisles and aisles and aisles of endless foolishness.
No time to do it yourself? No problem - we've got you covered there as well with unique (not mass-produced, sitting out in the rain or tossed in a heap fair - you know the stuff) gifts for creative living, framed art/prints and sculpture.
Alright, so tell me if I'm wrong (I'm pretty sure I'm not if you've read this much) - that made perfect...blissful...sense, you're a real artsy contender, and until now, those big box brew ha ha's - you've disputed them earnestly - they've become irrelevant to your artist/artisan intellect and creative zen with their "I wouldn't know real art and true craft if it bit me in the (well, you know)" mantra. You're seeking kindred spirits, an artist's/artisan's hub incapable of craft chain semantics, and whose duty it is, to share, support and nurture your sense of purpose. Finally, and ideally, an artist/s/artisan/s hub sustained by artists whose spirit, vitality and resolution validates yours.
So if a just right-sized, "something of everything" retail layout, web site sans the "fluff", on staff florist, research library, studio-style classroom and satellite learning facility (the Dumont Estate) featuring personalized, inspired courses, classes and workshops kind of mentality sounds wonderful right about now, artistic productions is YOU! Please return to the shop/web site often as new products, plans and classes unfold.
Thank you for considering artistic productions and Godspeed.
Albert E Dumont
